What we love about this coffee

A new roaster to the Roastful subscription out of San Diego. We’d heard some noise that Thankful Friend was roasting some really tasty coffee, so we decided to reach out and partner with them to bring you a tasty Kenyan Coffee.

How we're brewing it

We’re finding that lower ratios (1:15-1:16) allow for a juicy experience with this coffee.

Subtext

What we love about this coffee

We are so excited to feature coffee from Subtext in our September subscription. After sampling their coffees, we were blown away by the level of quality and consistency across their portfolio. This won’t be the last time you see Subtext in a box, but for now, enjoy a wonderful cup of Chiroso - one of our favorite varieties (and one of the most unique varieties) from Colombia.

How we're brewing it

Pushing extraction on this coffee will bring you the tastiest experience. You can play around with different ratios, we find this coffee tastes really good from low to high ratios, but we’d recommend pushing grind size a bit to get the sweetest cup experience.

What we love about this coffee

The guys at Rowan are some of our best friends; and we’re happy we get to feature their coffee for a second time this year. This time around we’ve got a single farmer lot from Ethiopia- it’s naturally processed, but because of its cleanliness, it could fool us for a washed coffee.

How we're brewing it

This coffee is really clean, and really delicate. You could spice things up a bit and capitalize on this delicacy by leaning into a brewer that may highlight more sweet characteristics, something like an aeropress, or really lean into a brew method that will allow you to stretch the ratio pretty far to highlight some of the wonderful florals present, something like the tricolate. This coffee is super versatile, you’ll be happy whichever route you choose.
