Making their second appearance in a Roastful box is one of the hottest roasters in the country right now- Prodigal! We selected a really nice, classic high acid pink bourbon from Prodigal, and it’s a really great representation of their portfolio and the coffees they select.
We’re loving this one at slightly tighter ratios- 1:16/1:16.5 ratios really allow the acidity to pop, and the balanced roast approach helps keep everything nice and sweet here.
First timer! We’ve been stoked to get Enjoy in a box for a while now. It’s still not super common to have coffee roasted on a Typhoon (and a custom branded one at that!), so it’s a great opportunity to taste a really stunning coffee- probably the best Nicaraguan coffee we’ve ever had, on a really cool “future of roasting” type of machine.
Keeping this one at slightly lower temps keeps the acidity nice and fresh and juicy! Grinding fine can definitely work well with this one as well- we’ve had great results with the pulsar at really fine grind sizes, tight ratios (1:13) and 200-205 temps. If you’re using a traditional percolation brew method- 1:16 should be a great ratio, and maybe bump temp up a bit to 205!
We’re no stranger to Hex coffee, and our taste buds are no strangers to dancing around when we drink Hex coffee! Selected by green buyer and Co-owner Tanner Morita while at the coveted competition this past year, the Copo de Oro in Colombia, this coffee was a standout to him, and we see why. It has a really unique profile for a pink bourbon- much more soft acidity with an almost cotton candy type quality to it, this one is a really special one!
205 and above on water is great- but this one is really easy to brew! Hex coffee is typically really light yet really soluble- and this one mirrors that certainly.
